In compliance with decision No. 47 of 2005, of the Qatari Minister of Economy and Commerce, Sheikh Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Thani, official fees for services provided by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce have been increased effective June 26, 2005.
The new fees range between $14 and $824. A table showing the new fees for all services provided by the Ministry has been published in the Qatari Al-Rayah Newspaper. Such services include: annual fees for commercial register, annual fees for commercial agencies, annual fees for trademarks, annual fees for insurance companies, annual fees for auditing profession, annual fees for licensing activities in the services sector, and legalization fees.
Accordingly, official fees for industrial property services and in particular trademarks have been increased in Qatar effective from the aforementioned date.
Trademark fees have changed dramatically. For example, Registration fees of a mark application in one class have increased from $75 to $550, while fees for Registration fees of a collective mark from $120 to $1375, and fees for Recording the license to use a mark from $110 to $1375.
It is worth noting that the ministry is currently undertaking major steps to upgrade the services it provides, and to improve the capabilities of its staff in order to keep up with the international standards and specifications.
