PARIS - The French Minister of Foreign Affairs no longer accepts to legalize documents without French certified translations of foreign words on the documents submitted.
According to Decree No. 2007-1205, which was issued on August 10, 2007, and published in the Official Journal of France (Le Journal Officiel de la République Française) on August 12, 2007, documents, such as Powers of Attorney, even if they are sometime bilingual, must now be translated into French before legalization.
Consequently, all text, even if partially in a foreign language, must be translated into French by a certified French translator.
In connection with Powers of Attorney, Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) will be glad to assist its clients in translating the Powers into other languages, once they have been legalized.
