guides co-published with WIPO, original works published through Kluwer Law
Publishing, and many others self-published in the Arab region.
a. Intellectual
Property Laws in the Arab Countries
Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh has compiled IP Laws of the Arab countries, which were published by Kluwer Law International. It is composed of
more than 1000 pages of intellectual property laws, which were collected from
all Arab countries, and translated into English. This virtually complete
collection of relevant instruments, and inaccurate up-to-date English translations,
is exactly what is needed to inspire confidence and spur the successful
marketing of products throughout the Arab world.
It is considered an
important reference for transitional businessmen, counsels, jurists and
academics providing complete details in such areas of practice as the
following: The eligibility for protection, registration and renewal procedures,
dispute resolution, succession of rights, enforcement of penalties for
infringement and administrative and judicial remedies. The book is an
invaluable guide, outlining the rights and duties of all parties interested in
conducting any type of business or trade in this important part of the world.
b. Abu-Ghazaleh
IP Dictionary
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh has
also compiled the “Abu-Ghazaleh IP Dictionary” providing for the first time a
comprehensive listing of English-Arabic translations and definitions of the
Intellectual Property terminology used in the Arab world.
It provides an
innovative, highly specialized and detailed explanation in Arabic of the terms
most commonly used in the context of intellectual property. It will help to
develop and increase Arab understanding and appreciation of the concept of
intellectual property with its ever-increasing importance in today’s world.
