Libya: The Libyan Trademark Office recently resumed its operation and is now accepting new trademark applications as of September 2, 2024.
It is worth mentioning that Libya has recently implemented new measures and requirements for trademark registration, which require a legalized Power of Attorney and a company registration document to accompany trademark applications. The required documents should be original and legalized by the Libyan Consulate in the applicant's home country. Late filing of required documents is only permissible for applications claiming priority; in such cases, the legalized documents must follow within 40 days from the date of the application.
Sudan: The Sudanese Patent Office resumed its operations with certain limitations, after nearly a year of closure due to civil unrest.
With the resumption of services, the Patent Office started accepting filings for new patent applications. However, it is important to note that subsequent procedures, such as the registration, examination of applications, and submission of supporting documents, will commence soon.
