PNINA’s Extended Sunrise Period Ended June 30, 2005

30-Jun-2005

The National Internet Naming Authority (PNINA), the .PS Registry of Palestine, announced that the initial .PS sunrise period that started on September 1, 2004 and was extended till June 30, 2005 ended on the same day. Consequently, all domain names are available for registration as of July 1, 2005.

PNINA called on all companies that wish to protect their digital identity in Palestine and intellectual property (IP) assets online to register their corporate, registered, and trademark names under the .PS.

If another party registers a domain name matching another trademark or service mark during the Sunrise period, a challenge against the registrant during the Sunrise Challenge period can be asserted, which begins at the conclusion of the Sunrise period and continues for 120 days.

Dispute resolution services during this period and afterward will use the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers’ (ICANN) Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) or the regular Palestinian court/arbitration systems.
