Oman Issues New Regulations for .OM Domain Registration
29-Nov-2022 MUSCAT – The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) issued the Decision No. 1152 of 2022, regulating the registration of Oman domain name (.OM). The new regulations, which will take effect on March 23, 2023, comprise new requirements needed to be met by the registrars.
The TRA will be responsible for the auto-renewal of .OM domain name. The domain name’s official fees will be deducted after 30 days of its expiry date, the registrar should delete the domain name within/or before this period to avoid the auto-renewal.
The new regulations added a new extension (.me) which will be available for registration in Oman by Omani citizens or residents in Oman.
Pursuant to the regulations, the official fees for registration and renewal of all extensions have been reduced from 15 OMR (39$), 10 OMR (26$) to 5 OMR (13 $), while new fees of 25 OMR (65$) have been added for recordal of assignment for non-premium domains, and 50 OMR(130$) for premium domain names.
