Bahrain to Join Nice Agreement

Members of Shura Council approved Bahrain’s joining the Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks, reported the Gulf Daily News.

Bahrain is a member to various conventions and agreements in the field of Intellectual Property. In June 22, 1995 it joined the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). In March 2, 1997 Bahrain joined the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works, which was set up to protect the rights of authors.

Bahrain also joined Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, which aims at protecting industrial property in its broadest sense including agricultural and extractive industries, manufactured or natural products in October 29, 1997.
