GENEVA - Palestine has become an observer member to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), according to a press release by the Palestinian Media Group on October 1, 2005, ag-IP-News Agency reported.
The Palestinian application, submitted on May 24, was unanimously accepted during the WIPO’s current 41st General Assembly meetings on September 29.
Accordingly, Palestine will benefit from the role which the organization plays in promoting all aspects of intellectual property including the protection of the rights of authors, inventors, trademark holders, as well as the protection of cultural heritage.
