Bahrain Accedes to a Number of WIPO Treaties & Agreements

GENEVA - The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announced that the Kingdom of Bahrain has deposited its instrument of accession to a number of WIPO agreements and treaties, ag-IP-new Agency reported.

According to WIPO, the government of Bahrain deposited its instrument of accession on September 15, 2005 to the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks, adopted in Madrid on June 27, 1989 (Madrid Protocol).

On the same day, Bahrain deposited its instrument of accession to the following treaties:

  • The Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks of June 15, 1957.
  • The Patent Law Treaty (PLT), adopted in Geneva on June 1, 2000.
  • The WIPO Copyright Treaty (WCT), adopted in Geneva on December 20, 1996.
  • The WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty (WPPT), adopted in Geneva on December 20, 1996.
  • The said treaties and agreements will enter into force, with respect to the Kingdom of Bahrain, on December 15, 2005.
