Sha’ban, Nahhas and Pharaon - Representatives in INTA Committees

AMMAN - Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) Regional Office Executive Director, Mr. Charles Sha’ban, was appointed to the International Trademark Association (INTA) Internet Committee/Registration Practice & Domain Name System (DNS) Administration Subcommittee, for the 2006 - 2007 committee term.

Meanwhile, ag-IP-news Agency Managing Chief Editor, Mr. Roufan Nahhas, was appointed to the INTA Bulletin Committee/Law & Practice - Middle East & Africa for the same term.

In addition, Abu-Ghazaleh Legal Executive Director, Mr. Samer Pharaon, was appointed to the INTA Anti-Counterfeiting & Enforcement Committee/Middle East & Africa Subcommittee.

This year, 2,800 volunteers applied to serve on INTA committees which are organized into three groups identified as the:

  • Association Governance, Membership and Participation Group (Board-level committees)
  • Education and Information Services (EIS) Group
  • Policy Development and Advocacy (PDA) Group

The EIS Group, which incorporates the INTA Bulletin Committee, is charged with providing consistently excellent education, information and services to the association’s members, industry, trademark professionals, public officials and the general public worldwide on trademarks and related issues.

The PDA Group, which incorporates the Internet Committee and the Anti-Counterfeiting & Enforcement Committee, is charged with developing policies on critical trademark and related rights around the world; building the worldwide influence of trademark owners; and shaping public policy by advocating the association’s positions vis-à-vis treaties, legislation, regulations and cases around the world.

Participation in an INTA committee offers members a unique and rewarding opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the advancement of the association’s objectives, network among their peers and raise their visibility within the international trademark community.
