ALGIERS - The Algerian government issued the implementing regulations for Patents, Layout Designs of Integrated Circuits and Trademarks Laws on August 2, 2005.
The regulations were issued as per the following executive decrees: Executive Decree No. 05 - 275 for patents, No. 05 - 276 for layout designs of integrated circuits, and No. 05 - 277 for trademarks.
The regulations, which were published in the Official Gazette No. 54 on August 7, 2005, streamline procedures related to patent filing and issuance, integrated circuit filing as well as trademark filing, examination, renewal, cancellation and publication.
President of Algeria, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, issued on July 19, 2004, Trademarks Law No. 03 - 06, Patents Law No. 03 - 07, Layout Designs of Integrated Circuits Law N. 03 - 08 and Copyright and Related Rights Law No. 03 - 05, in an effort to improve the intellectual property environment and enforce intellectual property rights in Algeria.
