An increase of more than 50% in charges for industrial property registrations, which occurred as a result of an amendment in stamp fees imposed on contracts, deeds, and documents, will come into force on June 6, 2005, according to Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) office in Syria.
The Legislative Decree No. 44, signed by Syrian President Bashar Assad on May 6, 2005, Accordingly, stamp fees for trademark or patent registration certificate will become SY.P2000 instead of SY.P780, certificate of change of name or address is raised from SY.P390 to SY.P2000, and certificate of ownership or merger is increased from SY.P780 to SY.P2000.
Article 34 of the Legislative Decree states that the Minister of Finance shall issue the implementing regulations required to implement the above Decree without specifying any exact date for this issuance.
