AGIP Participates in INTA's Trademarks in Cyberspace 2005 Forum in Vancouver

05-Mar-2005

Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) would like to announce that Mr. Charles Sha’ban, executive director of AGIP’s Regional Office, will be participating in the International Trademark Association (INTA)’s fifth Trademarks in Cyberspace Forum, entitled “Trademarks in Cyberspace 2005: Trademarks on the Internet 10 Years On” in Vancouver on September 12, 2005.

The two-day forum, which comes after ten years of commercializing the Internet and the first sale of domain names, will be directed at advanced-level and experienced practitioners.

The forum will not only focus on trademark and domain name issues, but will also discuss website protection through various means, such as copyrights and patents.

Jane Mutimear of Bird & Bird and Michael R. Graham of Marshall & Borun LLP will chair the forum, which will take place at the Sutton Palace Hotel, Vancouver.

Mr. Sha’ban will speak in a session entitled “International Domain Name Overview.” The session will comprise a panel discussion from international experts who will consider the evolution of the country-code Top Level Domains (ccTLDs) and Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs), as well as generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs), addressing issues that arise in daily practice, such as “Whois,” traceability, and how to take enforcement issues against cybersquatters from around the world.

The forum will host speakers from Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Kirkpatrick & Stockton, Bird & Bird, eBay and others.
