Turkey Officially Ratifies Geneva Act of Hague Agreement & TLT

09-Jan-2005

The Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs, adopted in Geneva July 2, 1999 entered into force with respect to the Republic of Turkey January 1, 2005.

The Turkish government deposited its instrument of accession to the Geneva Act October 1, 2004.

There are three separate Acts of the Hague Agreement, namely the London Act (1934), the Hague Act (1960) and the Geneva Act (1999).

On the other hand, Trademark Law Treaty (TLT), concluded in Geneva October 27, 1994 entered into force with respect to Turkey January 1, 2005.

The aim of the TLT is to make national and regional trademark registration systems more user-friendly. This is achieved through the simplification and harmonization of procedures and through removing pitfalls, thus making the procedure safe for the owners of marks and their representatives.
