Yemen Adopts the Eighth Edition of Nice Classification

The Yemeni Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Khalid Rajeh Sheikh, issued, January 16, 2005 the Ministerial decision No. 17 of 2005 stipulating on the adoption of the Eighth Edition of the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks under the Nice Agreement concluded June 15, 1957.

As per this decision, class 42 of the Seventh Edition will be divided into the following classes:

Class 42: Scientific and technological services and research and design relating thereto; industrial analysis and research services; design and development of computer hardware and software; legal services.

Class 43: Services for providing food and drink; temporary accommodation.

Class 44: Medical services; veterinary services; hygienic and beauty care for human beings or animals; agricultural, horticultural and forestry services.

Class 45: Personal and social services rendered by others to meet the needs of individuals; security services for the protection of property and individuals.

The afore-mentioned decision enters into force as of the date of its issuance and shall be published in the Industry and Trade Ministry's Official Journal, (AL-TEGARAH).
