The Fatwa and Legislation Department at the Ministry of Justice & Islamic Affairs & Awqaf (MJIAA) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has recently discussed a draft law on cyber crimes, Gulf News reported.
The draft law deals with different types of cyber crimes, such as interception, modification, data theft, interference and sabotage of networks, hacking and virus distribution. It also tackles computer-related crimes, including computer fraud, computer forgery and aiding and abetting cyber criminals.
"The committee approved the draft law in its initial form and will complete discussion of penalties soon," Dr. Ali Ebrahim Al Hossani, undersecretary of the MJIAA stated.
The law will be applicable to all offences, even those committed partially or totally outside the country if they harm the country's interests.
