Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) China Office will be hosting two seminars entitled “Intellectual Property Protection in the Arab Countries and Beyond” in Shanghai and Beijing.
Resident-in-charge of AGIP China Office, Ms. Ridab Abutaleb said "Such seminars aim at providing AGIP associates with general introduction to the laws, regulations and practices of IP in the Middle East, including registration procedures, requirements, time frame, quotation and many others."
She added that Mr. Samer Pharaon, Executive Director of Abu-Ghazaleh Legal Services (ABLE) will be the main speaker at the seminars.
"In addition, several of AGIP associates will be giving speeches about their experiences in the Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) protection field," she pointed out.
The first seminar will take place November 23, 2004 at the Shanghai International Convention Center in Shanghai, and the second one will be on November 25, 2004 at the Great Wall Sheraton in Beijing.
Meanwhile, Ms. Abutaleb took part in the EU-Japan IP Seminar - IPR in China: Design Infringements and Unfair Commercial Practices held October 18-19 2004, in Kempinski Hotel, Beijing, China.
The seminar brought together 200 participants, including government officials, IP experts and industry representatives from Japan, the European Union, and China to discuss and share EU and Japanese experiences in areas of common concern. Such areas included Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in China especially industrial designs and the Protection of IPRs against Unfair Commercial Practices.
It is noteworthy that the European Commission and the Japanese government have worked independently to enact a number of cooperation programs with the Chinese government, to support the development and enforcement of a modern IP legislative, regulatory and protection environment.
