The Palestinian National Internet Naming Authority (PNINA) started, September 1, 2004, offering an exclusive period of time for trademark and service mark holders to register their domain names, make reservations and preserve their marks under .ps domain name, representing country-code Top-Level-Domain of Palestine, pnina.ps reported.
According to Marwan Radwan, PNINA executive manager, the sunrise period is meant to reduce the disputes over certain domain names and to stimulate the registration process under .ps.
The pre-registration fee for a .ps sunrise domain name is the same registration fee for any "ordinary" domain name under the .ps or its Second Level Domains.
Dispute resolution services during the sunrise period will be provided exclusively by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Domain names registered after this period will use Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN's) Uniform Dispute Resolution Process (UDRP) or the regular Palestinian court system.
Trademark and service mark holders interested in registering their marks during the sunrise period may contact Domain Names Department at Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) at: domain.names@tagi.com.
