Omani Minister of Agriculture & Fisheries, Mr. Salem Ben Hilal Al Khalili, issued May 10, 2004, the Ministerial Decree No. 35 of 2004 stipulating on the issuance of the Implementing Regulations for Plant Varieties Law in Oman. The Decree was published in the Official Gazette No. 768 and entered into force as of the date of its publication.
Applications for plant varieties protection should be filed with the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries in Oman.
Requirements for filing an application are:
- A power of Attorney.
- Full information about the applicant such as name, nationality, address, telephone &
fax numbers, etc.
- Scientific name of the plant variety in English and Arabic.
- The method to produce the plant variety.
- Proof of applicant's ownership of the plant variety.
