Pakistan Joins Paris Convention

The Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property entered into force, with respect to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, July 22, 2004. On that date, Pakistan became a member of the International Union for the Protection of Industrial Property (Paris Union), founded by the Paris Convention.

The Government of Pakistan deposited, April 22, 2004, its instrument of accession to the Paris Convention.

The Paris Convention is one of the key IP conventions administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). It provides protection of patents, utility models, industrial designs, trademarks, service marks, trade names, indications of source or appellations of origin, and the repression of unfair competition.
