Latest statistics released by the Trademark Section (TMS) at the Jordanian Ministry of Industry and Trade showed a significant increase in the number of registered trademarks, officials revealed.
The number of the trademarks registered at the Section during the first seven months of 2004 reached up to 2742 compared to 2526 trademarks registered within the same period last year. This indicates that an additional 216 trademarks were registered this year.
In addition, statistics concerning the first seven months of this year show that the preliminary approvals granted by the TMS were 2587 trademarks out of the total number of trademark applications, which stood at 3647.
For the same period last year, figures indicate that the number of approvals granted for trademarks stood only at 2186 out of the 2786 submitted applications.
Meanwhile, the TMS has renewed 1280 trademarks, transferred the ownership of 390 trademarks, changed and modified names and addresses of 375 trademark owners and has cancelled 75 trademarks.
