Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa issued a decision approving the GCC patenting system, KUNA reported.
The GCC higher council had, in the 20th GCC summit, held in Riyadh in 1999, approved the amended GCC patenting system, which comes in accordance with international intellectual property agreements. The system is a step towards promoting technical development and will push forward scientific, industrial and agricultural advancement in the region.
The new system also encourages inventors and creative individuals to share their ideas through establishing joint projects in return for protecting their intellectual property rights.
