The Jordanian Intellectual Property Committee held its second meeting on Thursday evening, August 24, 2000, at the temporary premises of the Committee at the International Chamber of Commerce, Jordan - World Business Organization.
The Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce, Jordan, Mr. Mohammad Asfour, nominated Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh to be the first Chairman of the Jordanian Intellectual Property Committee. The Committee members unanimously agreed to this nomination for a term of two years.
It was also decided to publish a monthly bulletin which will be available at the Committee's web site In addition, the committee will hold a number of specialized workshops in the year 2001 in cooperation with the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris and the World Intellectual Property Organization. The Committee approved the definition presented by Chairman Talal Abu-Ghazaleh of the intellectual property message as follows:

The Committee also agreed to compile and publish the first set of Jordanian legislations which were issued in conformity with the world trade system, particularly the set of intellectual property laws. The other non-commercial laws will also be compiled at a later stage. The Committee requested that its opinion and advice should be sought in all matters which relate to the enactment and issuing of legislations which have not yet been approved. It was decided to send a letter to this effect to the Ministry of Trade and Industry and also to the House of Representatives. The purpose is to accredit the Committee as a basic partner and as an important expertise house when discussing or amending any laws related to world trade and intellectual property in particular.
