The Sudanese Council of Ministers approved on July 2, 2000 the papers to be submitted for the accession to the Berne International Convention. Sudan's current copyright law is awaiting the implementing regulations. Entry of the country to the Berne convention would provide copyright protection for foreigners. It is expected that the papers should be submitted to WIPO shortly.
