New Requirements Of The Patent Office

Recently the Kuwait Patent Office has issued a notification that it will not accept even priority patent applications without a legalized power of attorney and abstract of the invention in Arabic. Other relevant documents can be filed within 3 months.

Requirements:
1. A power of attorney legalized up to the Consulate of Kuwait.
2. The title of the invention.
3. A summary description of the invention.
4. Two copies of the specification of the invention together with the Arabic translation.
5. Two sets of the formal drawings bearing Arabic reference numerals and prepared on
Bristol boards.
6.A legalized extract of the entry of the applicant in the commercial register or an official copy of the memorandum or articles of association, if the applicant is a company or a body corporate.
7.The name, address, nationality and occupation of the applicant(s) and inventor(s).
8.The number and date of the corresponding foreign patent.

The patent application is granted a three-month period for submission of the remaining documents presented to the Foreign Patent Office, attested by the Foreign Office to which the patent is submitted, the Kuwait Embassy, and the Kuwait Foreign Affairs Ministry.
