Amends its Trademark and Patent Laws in Compliance with the TRIPs Agreement

On November 1, 1999, Jordan published amending laws to its existing trademarks and patent laws. The laws took effect on December 1, 1999, upon issuance of the implementing regulations. Of note in the new trademark law, is the addition of service mark protection, as well as over 100% increase in official fees. As for the patent law, pharmaceutical patents can now be filed.
