Sudan's implementing regulations for its Industrial Designs Law for the Year 1974 as per Article 43 came into force as of 20 July, 1999. The Regulations provide for the establishment of an industrial design office in the Commercial Registrations Administration for filing, examination and granting as well as other functions.
Likewise, a consultative committee was formed to give opinions on the registrability of industrial designs, appeals and oppositions of industrial design applications. All the relevant forms were attached to the regulations for use in connection with industrial designs procedure.
The Registrar's decision of registration rejection is subject to appeal to the Minister of Justice within two weeks of its issuance. Upon registration, industrial designs will be subject to granting licenses, assigning and inheritance. Also, it is possible to conduct a search among registered designs after setting the prescribed fees. Fees for various formalities are fixed in a fee schedule appended to the Implementing Regulations.
