The head of the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research & Technology has decided the following:
ARTICLE 1
The amendment of Article 2 of the Amended Implementing Regulations Decision No. 254 for the Year 1990 shall become as follows:
" ARTICLE 2
The patent application shall be accompanied, in addition to what is provided for in Articles 15 and 16 of the law, by the following:
Firstly:
1. The full specification in the Arabic language.
2. An abstract in the Arabic and English languages of no more than 200 words accompanied by the invention filing fee.
3. A copy of the detailed specification and its drawing and other foreign documents duly certified by the industrial property office if the application is based on Article 53 of law No. 132 for the Year 1949.
Secondly:
The following documents shall be submitted duly certified and legalized when filing the application or within 3 months of the application date based on an undertaking from the applicant, that the application will be regarded as if it had never been made if the documents weren't filed during that period:
1. An Extract of the Commercial Registry or official extract from the memorandum or articles of incorporation.
2. A deed of assignment and its Arabic translation.
3. A power of attorney duly legalized.
4. A certificate of temporary protection.
Thirdly:
The Arabic specification and drawings have to be filed in the Arabic language at the time of filing or within 6 months of that date, based on an undertaking that the application will be regarded as if it had never been made if the documents are not submitted during that period, provided that the patent application is filed with the specification and drawings and other foreign documents duly certified by the Industrial Property Office and accompanied by the English or French translations if the application is based on the provisions of Article 53 of Law No. 132 for the Year 1949 and Article 4 of the Paris Convention. "
ARTICLE 2
The decision shall be published in Al-Waqai' Al-Masriah
ARTICLE 3
The competent authorities shall implement the provisions of this decision.
