The House of Representatives in Jordan's Parliament approved a bill amending the General Sales Tax Law. The amending law raises the sales tax percentage from 10% up to 13%. On the other hand, the Government seeks to reduce the ratio of customs down to 30% and further review the fees imposed on factory inputs.
The tax raise was approved by the majority of House members. Before the law would come into force, it would have to go through the channels of the House of Senates and finally be approved by Royal Decree.
