AGIP Executive Director Elected First Vice-chair of the Arab IGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group 2014

CAIRO - Executive Director of Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) Mr. Charles Sha'ban has been elected to be the first Vice-chair of the Arab Internet Governance Forum Multistakeholder Advisory Group (AMAG) for 2014.

According to the Arab Internet Governance Secretariat, the AMAG leadership for 2014 came to give the opportunity to new people who will contribute to the creation of new vision for Internet Governance, and work on new methods and employ them to develop Internet use and make it a tool in the service on Arab interest.

“I am honored of my colleagues trust in the Arab IGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group to be the new first Vice-chair,” said Mr. Sha’ban. “I am confident that my election to the AMAG is a good step towards an increased level of work hand in hand with the Chairman Dr. Hoballah of TRA Lebanon, vice-chair Mr. Bashir of ICTQatar and the former and new members to fulfill the Group’s mission,” Sha’ban pointed out.

A member of the Global MAG from 2006 till 2012 and of the AMAG from its beginning, Mr. Sha’ban was elected according to the UN ESCWA, League of Arab States and Secretariat’s criteria mainly for having appropriate experience in the field of Internet Governance and related public policy, good knowledge of the outputs of the World Summit on the Information Society Geneva 2003 and Tunis 2005, and knowledge of the global IGF process mechanisms.
