The Registrar of Patent Office at the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Jordan has recently issued new regulations concerning the payment of patent annual fees and the period of protection for which fees should be paid.
Pursuant to the provision of Article (17) of the Patents Law No. 32 for the year 1999, the period of protection of a patent is 20 years as of the date of filing the application for registration.
And pursuant to the provision of Article 32 of the Patents Law No. 97 for the year 2001, the annual fees are payable for each year of the said period of protection.
In compliance with the aforesaid articles, the annual fees are payable upon the issuance of the patent (realization of the actual ownership) for each year of the 20-year term as of the first through the twentieth.
