New Trademark Regulations in Sudan

The Intellectual Property Department at the Ministry of Justice in the Republic of the Sudan issued on January 21, 2004 new regulations concerning trademarks.

First: In the case of a company that has more than one trademark, the original documents relating to the following procedures should be photocopied: assignment, changes of name and/or address, merger, licensing and filing applications. The original document should be marked to indicate that it is the original.

Second: When conducting any procedure relating to trademarks; applications for changes and renewals should be accompanied with a sample folder provided that the agent should designate one color for all subsequent applications.

Third: In the event the acceptance is conditional on omitting any item from the application or amending the application itself, the applicant or his agent should comply with this condition; then he should submit an amended application before paying the fees for publication in the Official Gazette.
