National Phase Applications for PCT Accepted

On December 6, 2003, the Egyptian Patent Office started accepting applications for entering the national phase for PCT filed before September 6, 2003, when Egypt ratified the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). 

The following documents must be filed on the same date of filing a PCT application in Egypt:

Publication report

Search report

Preliminary examination report 

The following documents may be filed at a later stage: 

A power of attorney legalized up to the Egyptian consulate.

A deed of assignment legalized up to the Egyptian consulate.

An extract of the entry of the applicant company in the commercial register or a copy of the certificate of incorporation. The document in either form should be legalized up to the Egyptian consulate.

A certified copy of the priority document. 

While the priority document must be filed within 3 months to preserve priority rights, the first three documents must be available within 4 months from the filing date to avoid irrevocable lapse of the application.
