Uk Registered Designs: The New Law
The UK Registered Design Law has been radically overhauled in order to bring it in to line with the European Design Directive adopted in 1998. The new UK law entered into force on Decemeber 9, 2001. The principal changes concern what types of design can be registered, the new novelty requirements and the infringement provisions.

Changes of the German Patent Law and of Further Laws
Imortant changes of The German patent, utility model, trade mark, design model laws and of other laws will enter into force on January 01, 2002. These changes are to enable simplifying and modernizing the administration of protective rights and the payment of fees. Furthermore, they are to legally prepare for electronic filing and publications. Amendments of the European Patent Convention and of the PCT will also enter into force next year in order to reduce the work load imposed by the international preliminary examination of PCT applications.
