Police in five countries have carried out the operation, led by the United States. Sites affiliated to the WAREZ group, a network that breaks copyright protection schemes, have been targeted.
In the US alone there have been 100 raids. Ian Doody from US Customs said the network’s claim to fame was pirating Windows 95 before it has even released 19 searches and five arrests have been made in Britain, Australia, Canada, Finland and network has broken copy protection schemes on everything from movies to computer operating systems. Suspects range from university students to executives. Typically they are believed to be "insiders" in the software or movie industry.
