Re–organization of the Intellectual Property Protection Activity

The Public Popular Committee in the Libyan Arab People’s Socialist Jamahiria has issued Decision No. (150) for this year, in respect of the reorganization of the National Commission on Scientific Research.

The Decision provided for entrusting the Commission with the organization and management of the intellectual property activity, on the basis of being the only national party responsible for these activities, with the exclusion of others.

This Decision has been issued according to the new policies and strategies of the comprehensive development plan which depends on the research and development activities as a basis for the development and activation of the various economic sectors, in particular encouraging and providing incentives for innovation and invention in all aspects.

The National Commission on Scientific Research is considered the national umbrella which sponsors more than 18 centuries of research in the various specialization’s linked with basic and applied sciences, in addition to sponsoring the activity of the Arab Language Academy.

Accordingly, this environment will constitute a new climate for the development and consolidation of the role of intellectual property in its various industrial, literary and commercial activities.
