OMPIC and OHIM Sign Memorandum of Understanding

ALICANTE - The Moroccan Office of Intellectual Property (OMPIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) in order to strengthen cooperation and exchange experiences in the field of Intellectual Property and training.

The areas of cooperation are as follows:
- Capacity building: Training programs in the field of industrial property rights for the different actors (rights holders, judges, etc.). This will include seminars and workshops, and exchange of expertise between the two offices (OMPIC) and (OHIM).
- Fight against infringement: OMPIC and OHIM will establish effective mechanisms for information exchange and awareness for stakeholders and the collaboration between the European Observatory on Infringement of Intellectual Property Rights and the future Moroccan Observatory on Infringement.
- Data exchange: Two offices will work for the online exchange of data and statistics on trademarks, industrial designs and models. To this end, Morocco is expected to join the TM view platform of OHIM.


- The development of electronic systems: This aspect of cooperation for the development and expansion of programs processing, automation and modernization, includes the exchange of software.
Both offices discussed tools of marks classification for easy and free access of users to databases, especially (TM class) of OHIM.
