The European Directive N98/71/EC dated October 13, 1998 on the legal protection of designs has been recently introduced in the French law. The new rules will come into force on October 1st, 2001. The main amendments affect the following:
1. Conditions of Protection.
2. Grace period.
3. Claiming of ownership.
4. Exhaustion of rights.
5. Duration of protection.
