New Regulations

01-Sep-2001

In addition to increases in the official fees, the registrar in Sudan issued within the last month several directives amending the requirements for registration. These amendments which became effective on September 15, 2001 are all part of the effort to improve the Trademark Office effectiveness. These changes include:

- All powers of attorney must be legalized up to the Sudanese consulate. Simply signed powers of attorney will no longer be accepted.
-Changes introduced to a trademark application or registration must be endorsed on the original certificate of registration. For this purpose, the original certificate of registration must be submitted when recording assignments, changes of name and or address, mergers and other similar matters.
