Dubai Customs Honors Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property

DUBAI – In recognition of its significant role in safeguarding Intellectual Property
Rights (IPRs), Dubai Customs honored Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP)
in a special ceremony marking World Intellectual Property Day at the Royal
Mirage Hotel in Dubai. AGIP was recognized for being the biggest
Intellectual Property firm in registering and recording trademarks with Dubai Customs.
Executive Director of AGIP UAE Offices Mr.Amjad El Husseini who received the reward
on behalf of AGIP said: “We are really proud to be recognized for the third year in a row
by Dubai Customs under the guidance of our Chairman Talal Abu-Ghazaleh.”
He added:”On the other hand, it proves the awareness of the trademarks owners
around the world for the vital role that Dubai Customs plays in safeguarding their
Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in the UAE.”
The reward was presented by Mr. Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Executive Chairman of Ports
Customs and Free Zone Corporation and Director General of Dubai Customs and
Mr. Yousuf Ozair, Senior Manager of IPR Department at Dubai Customs.
Honoring AGIP coincides with the world’s celebration of the World Intellectual
Property Day. In 2000, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)
Member States decided to designate an annual World Intellectual Property Day.
They chose April 26, the date on which the Convention establishing WIPO originally
entered into force in 1970.
