AFNIC Launches New Dispute Resolution System
17-Nov-2011 PARIS - The French Registry for the .fr and .re domain names (AFNIC) announced that it will launch the new dispute resolution system (Syreli) after being approved by the French Minister of Electronic Communication.
The dispute resolution system is a part of new legal framework set up subsequent to a decision of the French Constitutional Council on October 6, 2010.
The terms and conditions concerning the new dispute resolution system were published on November 3, 2011 in the French Official Journal, and the interface will be available on November 21, 2011.
The major changes brought by the new dispute resolution system are as follows:
• AFNIC issues its decision within two months as from the receipt of the dispute file.
• The holder can answer the complainant's demand within 21 days, and may modify his/her answer within this period.
• With the holder’s consent, the decision is immediately enforceable without waiting for the end of the appeal period.
• Appeals regarding the decisions of the Registry may be brought before a judge in appeal.
