One More Step Towards the WTO

01-Sep-2003

Saudi Arabia (represented by the Minister of Commerce) and the European Union (represented by EU Trade Commissioner) have recently signed a bilateral agreement for free access of goods and services as part of the Kingdom’s bid to join the World Trade Organization (WTO).

There are numerous factors involved that need to be sort out before knowing the exact date of the Kingdom’s accession to the WTO. Such factors include the conditions set forth by remaining WTO members and the time it takes the Kingdom to accomplish them.

It is worth noting that the Kingdom has signed 14 bilateral trade-related agreements with various member states including Japan, Australia, Canada and Brazil and is looking forward to reach a bilateral agreement with the USA.
