The Secretariat-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), has recently drafted a new by-law for e-transactions to be applied in all member states, Okaz Newspaper reported.
The new by-law includes electronic records, e-signatures and e-contracts related to e-transactions. However, issues related to personal status such as marriage, divorce and legacy whilst non-transferable properties are excluded from the by-law.
The aforesaid by-law stipulates that a national center for e-authentication should be established in each of the GCC member states, in order to supervise certification authorities. A juridical circuit to settle all potential disputes arising in this field shall also be established in GCC states.
