According to section 4 of article 2 of the Regulations for the Registration of Trademarks, if a trademark has been registered abroad, it is imperative to file a certified copy of the home registration certificate or a certificate from any other foreign country along with the application. If the application is based on a foreign trademark application, the Iranian Registrar will keep it pending for a period of six months, until issuance of the registration certificate at home or in any other foreign country. This grace period is extendable once, for a one- year period.
