Libya Update
23-Jun-2011 TRIPOLI – Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) would like to inform its clients that the Libyan Patent Office is still receiving patent applications for filing even though it is not opening on a daily basis. The Office’s working days depend on the current situation in Libya.
Regarding the pending patent applications that have been filed during the unrest period in Libya and have not yet completed their filing requirements, we anticipate that the Patent Office will take this matter into consideration to grant new extension of time to complete the outstanding documents due to the difficulties of delivering such documents to Libyan Patent Office, and difficulties of having them legalized by the Libyan consulates abroad.
From another hand, the Libyan Trademark Office is still closed due to the ongoing unrest in Libya and it is still unpredictable when the Trademark Office will resume its activities.
AGIP is monitoring the situation closely and shall inform its clients immediately once further updates are received from the Libyan Patent and Trademark Offices.
