OHIM and WIPO Sign Cooperation Agreement
21-Jun-2011 ALICANTE - The Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) President António Campinos and Francis Gurry, the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), have signed a wide-ranging agreement to cooperate on IT tools, data sharing, human resources exchanges and training.
A press release by OHIM stated that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on June 17 in Alicante during a visit by a WIPO delegation which reviewed previous joint activities and looked forward to greater cooperation between the two Intellectual Property (IP) organizations, including working together on OHIM Cooperation Fund projects and the OHIM Academy.
The Memorandum follows cooperation agreements signed by OHIM with the European Patent Office and with the Korean IP office last month. A full report on the agreement with WIPO will appear in this month’s Alicante News.
