On April 11, 2001, Australia deposited its notice of accession to the Madrid Protocol. Accordingly, the Madrid Protocol for the international registration of trademarks will come into force in Australia on July 11, 2001. From that date Australia may be designated either for new filings or for extending registrations to Australia.
