01-Aug-2003
The Police Research Center at the Police Academy organized a symposium under the banner “Security and the Internet” in accordance with the instructions of the Minister of Interior to examine and analyze unprecedented criminal phenomena, setting up scientific schemes and programs to encounter them in coordination with the governmental bodies and entities.
The assistant of the Minister of Justice confirmed that a draft law for e-signature is currently under preparation. The said draft law aims at establishing a secure environment to conduct transaction related to individuals in cyberspace, issuing legislations coinciding with the information revolution, in addition to issuing a specialized law in e-commerce.
It is worth noting that the symposium brought together officials and representatives from Ministries of Justice, Information, Communications, Youth and Waqfs and the Information Center.
The symposium covered much valuable ground tackling several aspects surrounding cyber crimes, the most important of which was highlighting the considerable efforts of the Ministry of Interior in countering cyber crimes, specifying the roles of governmental and private institutions charged with countering cyber crimes, and recognizing the experiments of other pioneering countries in such field.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Interior is exerting its utmost efforts to provide the potential human resources in order to detect cyber crimes. Towards this end, new regulatory divisions have been established in the said Ministry for fighting cyber crimes.
