Procedural Changes to Trademark Filing in Iraq

01-Jun-2004

Official sources at the Iraqi Trademark Office revealed that several procedural steps were carried out to facilitate the process of filing trademarks in the country.

According to the sources, Arab clients are no longer requested to submit a certificate of home registration of a trademark in Iraq. The second change was addressed to all clients stating that the requirements for filing in Class 34 are no longer needed except for the label of a trademark.

Previous requirements included the submitting of a certificate issued from Home Trade & Industry Chambers addressed to Iraqi Federation of Industries and legalized from Iraqi Consulate in the home country in addition to providing labels for trademark, a sample (empty pack) of each mark and a Certified Home certificate of registration.
