ITMA Trademark Owners Allowed (.pro) Registration

With the imminent launch of the (.pro) top-level domain, domain name operator (RegistryPro, Inc) is receiving trademark owners’ applications. This is to allow TM owners IP protection prior to the professional public being given access by RegisteryPro in July 2003.
The (.pro) domain name is intended exclusively for certain self-certified professionals (both individuals and organizations) “who want to differentiate themselves from the dot commoners”.
Those include medical practitioners (.med.pro), lawyers and other legal experts (.law.pro) and certified public accountants (.cpa.pro). This is just the beginning. The types of (.pro) domain names are expected to increase within the near future.
Furthermore, RegistryPro is endeavoring to remove restrictions on registrations by non-US licensed professionals.
The sunrise period for trademark owners is expected to expire in June 2003.
